This is an example of a post on the blog here from an "approved author." Anyone can comment on any post but to put up a new "post," you need to be invited and have a gmail account (a google email account) which is free and similar to getting a yahoo email account.
Rather than sending "editorial comments" to the active yahoo group, which is delivered via people's email inboxes, we can post our opinions on articles here and others can comment. This way, those who are interested can bookmark this site and come and visit and comment all they want without clogging up email inboxes. We can also subscribe to "follow" the blog which means you get notified when there is a new posting.
Additionally, if we get a lot of traffic going on the site, we can opt to have ads on it and make money! I mean, why not make money on all the time we spend back and forth-ing among the network members!
Please comment below this post as to how you feel about this.
Many thanks!
Happy New Year!
Cheers,
Noushin
I'm grateful to Noushin for givin us an example of how this type of communication can work. It is clear to be the several folks have gotten frustrated enough with the Yahoo posts to leave over the last few weeks. It is not the original posts that drive me nuts, it is the response to them whether they be substantive, a "thanks" or a responsive that someone would have rather be a more private response. For another example, check our Moderator Bruce Reyes-Chow's blog at httt://www.mod.reyes-chow.com/
ReplyDeleteI agree with Carol -
ReplyDeleteit's the one line responses that everyone doesn't need to see - but when you hit reply to a yahoo group email, everyone gets it....that's just the way it works. Bruce's blog is great- full of links and he is very techno savvy - we can start with baby steps!
It is definitely worth a try. I appreciate your efforts to accomplish this, Noushin. I'm still learning how it will benefit us.
ReplyDeleteNoushin,
ReplyDeleteFor less techno savvy folks like me (Peter Mann) this seems more user friendly. And I already have a secret gmail account. Secret in that I don;t publish it but use it for e-mail backup, in case my laptop dies.
As for future ads Import Peace would be open to that idea.
